Who Is Mary Williams

A life-long Kansan, Mary Williams was raised on the fourth-generation Schneider/Noll farm in the Mooney Creek area of Jefferson County.  She attended Kansas public schools from kindergarten through graduate school. She and her husband, Clint, reside in rural Meriden. Between the two of them, her blended family includes two children, two step-children, and six grandchildren.

When she is not teaching or coaching, Mary enjoys traveling and running half-marathons with her husband, Clint. Together they have run in 42 states, closing in on her goal of competing in a half-marathon in every state. Mary has enjoyed visiting with people and hearing different perspectives about issues that are important to us all as Kansans. She looks forward to sharing her insight and listening to voters in the 47th district.

Prior to earning her Bachelors and Masters degrees, she owned and operated TLC Daycare Centers in Nortonville and Winchester.   For the past 22 years, Mary has been a teacher and coach at Jefferson West Middle and High Schools and is a Teacher Leader Consultant for Kansas State Department of Education. She has also worked to help incarcerated women earn their GEDs. She is the only National Board Certified teacher in Jefferson County.

Mary’s education and work experiences more than qualify her to represent Kansans. Her degree in Business and early positions as treasurer for the cities of Oskaloosa and Winchester has given her the background necessary for serving on committees that determine funding. However, it is her education and work with teaching and nurturing children where Mary’s passion lies.

I am a strong believer that the care and education of our youth is our future.  We need quality, safe foster care for those that need the support of our village.  We need to provide quality childcare support as well as early childhood education.   We also need to make sure we have quality health care for our elderly, veterans and society in general.  Medicaid Expansion is a hot button item that needs to be addressed in Kansas.
